It does what it says on the tin - lets the gospel tell the gospel. The DVD's are clear, engaging and easily watchable. The leaders handbook is packed with just about everything you might possibly need to know about running the course; but the participant's booklets are thankfully easy to follow, not too simplistic nor over full of detail. CE is excellent all round - the best Christian basics course on the market. And perhaps slightly surprisingly, I have found it a great resource in our rural, traditional, under-taught community.
We are now on week 4 with our group for christianity explored. It is a refreshing study which provokes alot of discussion. We love the up-to-date relevent approch to the subjects and Rico Tice is a very easy person to listen to. The visual illustrations that they use in the sessions are very well thought out and help aid in the digestion of what is being talked about. We have 5 people on our course (mix of non-christian and christian) and its proving to be thought provoking and challenging for all. The need for course participants to do extra study and reading is vital if they want to get the most out of the course( in our experience the course sessions have whetted the appetite to do the extra reading and study on the book of Mark). Great course would recommend to anyone needing new study material
This Starter Pack is the cheapest way of ordering the bulk of a group's need and then adding the extras as required. It is a pity the CE Mark's Gospel is hidden elsewhere on the website.
I didn't think they could improve on Christianity Explored and was anxious to see how the new, revamped version worked out. But I need not have worried! The shorter course is much leaner and compact making the time commitment required that bit less. All the good stuff from the original is there but has been re-worked to good effect. But the best improvement is the DVD. Much better presentation and production values make it really effective and gripping. Well done Christianity Explored.
Christianity Explored material is honestly the best resource i have found for helping people engage with the truth about Christianity. This new version is even better as it has become easier to use, is more coherent, and is bang up to date so more accessible for people to relate to. I have used it with my church in a large group setting, in Costa Coffee as a neutral location, and for one to ones in my home... and its completely versitile for all these locations. As you would expect from the CEM team, it explains biblical truth in a clear and challenging manner. The new leaders guide has some really helpful extras to help leaders explain and answer questions about life, as well as biblical passages. I would heartily recommend it!!
I bought the starter pack of Christianity Explored for a group of mainly young mums who are asking questions about the Faith. Into week three this week and so far very good. Great discussions and they appreciate that it is less excitable than Alpha.
Before this new edition of Christianity Explored was released I read good reviews. Having watched the DVD and used the written material, I agree. It doesn't feel like you are getting seven talks (plus three day away talks) with some accompanying DVD material to watch. It feels as if the DVD has been carefully put together so what we see and watch enhance the talks.
There are seven sessions. The Good news: what are we doing here? Identity: Who is Jesus? Sin: Why did Jesus come? The cross: why did Jesus die? Resurrection: Why did Jesus rise? Grace: How can God accept us? Material for a day away and Come and die: What does it mean to follow Jesus? The last few sessions were especially good and have been reworked. I thought that the seventh session pulls threads together helpfully.
The work books are easier to use too. Gone is the school teacher tone of version two, the vocabulary is accessible: explore, listen, discuss, follow up. The layout is pleasing to the eye.
I would recommend it to anyone. Buy it and use it - we have a great tool.
