The Western world has been 'resource rich' for years. There is a large choice of bible-study booklets and evangelistic tools available to people and churches, and no end of training opportunities to sign up for. Although the quality varies, we are still rich in these things in a way that our brothers and sisters in the wider world are not. Even worse, many parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America are flooded with poor-quality cast offs from western publishers, inappropriately high-level books, or by resources filled with ruinous false teaching. They are crying out for basic, reliable material that teaches the Bible carefully, accurately and consistently.

That's part of the idea behind our Pray, Prepare, Preach series of simple preaching guides. These low-cost guides will help pastors and Bible teachers around the world teach the word of God more clearly week by week to their congregations.

We are also involved in the costly and time-consuming business of enabling translations of key material to be published in languages and for people groups that are hungry for solid spiritual food. And closer to home, we are working on evangelistic and discipleship resources to reach less literate sectors of our community. Our Access for All brand places the emphasis on materials that have crystal clear, simple English that is not patronizing or childish in its tone.

We seek to fund all these ministries out of our other publishing and training activities. So you can be confident that what you pay for a book or a study guide is not only an investment in your own spiritual health, but also contributes towards bringing the life-giving message of Christ to many others.

We took the decision early on as a publisher not to depend on gift income to operate. This gives us the discipline of depending on the quality and usability of the resources we produce for our survival. It also means that Christian giving is directed towards gospel work through their local church, and not diverted into 'para-church' ministries, where there is less direct accountability. And it means that the general Christian market for resources is not distorted by false economies.

That does not mean, however, that we are a greedy commercial organization. Our staff (who are worth their weight in gold!) have often made hard decisions to leave secular employment where they would be earning far more. We aim to provide a reasonable living for our team, but this is often below a 'market rate' for the work. And we are committed to making publishing decisions that benefit the work of the gospel, rather than feather our own nest. Two examples of this are the Pray Prepare Preach series, and the Access for All brand.

So you can be confident when you buy a resource that what you pay reflects a reasonable price for the product, but that it is not going into the pocket of some rich Christians, or a faceless corporation, but is becoming part of the resource of a group of believers striving to serve and live for Christ, and to help resource the church worldwide.

Why are we giving these things away?

Three reasons:

1. So that you can get a feel for our aims and values as a publisher.

2. So that you can 'road test' these materials and see if they are useful for your own ministry, personal growth or outreach.

3. Because we want to encourage you to support our work in delivering the benefits of strongly biblical, well thought through and designed materials with the wider world.
