Good perspective

Nice way to keep Jesus focused at Christmas each day.

wonderful

I bought one of these to do with my 4 year old, and one for my friend and her 3 year old... We all had a lovely time and it was a great way to begin introducing our little ones to Jesus and the REAL meaning of christmas!

Highly recommended :0)

Really enjoyed this

My daughter and I really enjoyed this, she is 10. It was a lovely way to build up to Christmas.

Fantastic focus - non-believers asked us about it too!

This was a wonderful way to anticipate Christmas with our daughters (then 7 and 9). We removed the images each day and hung them in order across a garland over the fireplace. Many friends asked what the pictures were (as they don't look like regular Christmas symbols). My daughters were pleased to share what they had learned, using the symbols to recount the story of Jesus' foretelling and ancestry. It is our prayer taht seeds were planted beyond our own family. Thank you.

A brilliant way to prepare for Christmas

I gave this to some international friends (mother and daughter). Here is the mother's response:
At 9:30 pm on the 1st of Dec, a moment supposedly for nothing new in a day, the Advent Calendar came to us----- a gift of surprise!

In gratitude, we opened the first window in it and began our search for the Lord Jesus. Following the directions, we traced him in the Bible, discussing questions raised in the manual and sending prayers in the end. That enjoyable activity replaced our bedtime story; in a time of being in a foreign land, it tied my daughter and me even closer, which, as a nice feeling of sharing, goes beyond sheer blood relationship. In this process it struck me suddenly that the Christmas celebration is far from a traditional gathering in the normal sense; it signifies something transcendental - to envision the birth of enlightenment and hope, the saviour of humanity.

For this, I recommend the Advent Calendar as a good start on the way to eternal truth.

my 2,5 and 8 year old all got involved with this

All my children (2, 5 and 8 years old) got involved with this advent calendar. We did it over breakfast each morning, it didn't take long, questions could be answered between mouthfuls and it meant that we all went off for the day having had a moment or two in prayer. The daily reminder of the real reason for Christmas is such a help during this period of commercial excess. A great overview of both OT and NT references to Jesus.

Great product but can you do a similar one for pre-schooler's?

I bought this advent calendar for my children (4 1/2 & 2), knowing that it would be a little too old for them, but wanting to do something through advent with them. They loved the idea of making a Jesse tree (although it ended up being made more by me than them!), they loved sticking each window onto the tree, it was GREAT to have salvation history taught so well in such a fun way, BUT I think the studies for each day were a little too complicated/long even for the 5 year old. Is it possible to do another one for pre-schoolers? They certainly get the idea and would benefit from it, but could do with it being a little shorter.

For those with children 5+: it's a great way to: a) teach salvation history; b) have a fun family bible study each day through advent and c) bring back some meaning and special-ness to Christmas. I would fully recommend it.

Fantastic Family Advent Calendar

This is a very hands on and interactive family activity pack for advent. We especially enjoyed having the 'Jesse Tree' to look at every day and to add things to. The inclusion of posters and other things to do kept each day varied.

There were lots of good doctrinal points covered (e.g. Jesus coming to save, or Jesus coming as Davidic King)in an engaging way. The reason was that, in dealing with a family tree, the teaching focussed on people. We have children of a variety of ages, all of whom enjoyed it. The best one yet!

Really Good Idea

This ticks nearly all the boxes for a great alternative to the usual Advent Calendars.
I loved the way you could use the 'door's to make a special tree as a reminder of what has been learnt. I loved the booklet which helped explain the whole big picture of Christmas. Especially liked the bible verse on the calendar.
Very good to get into the habit of opening the Bible as a family at a very busy time of year when the important gets lost in the urgent!
To make this even better it would be great if it could 'stand up' or be hung to make it easier to have in a prominent place. I have to say that my children still love the chocolate type and therefore had two calendars! Not necessarily a bad thing.
Maybe it could be a little more 'sparkly' & glossy, the colours brighter too.
