Clear and concise Review by Kevin Eccles

I am going through Christianity Explained with a small group at work. We only have half an hour together so we really motor. Six sessions is the right number for us. The course structure is good and the teaching points are clear and concise. The handouts are helpful. The homework sheets are useful for those who want to dig deeper and read the whole of Mark's gospel. The book has provided me with all the guidance that I need. (Posted on 5/20/10)

The Best Introductory Course on the Christian Faith Review by Darren Blaney

We are using Christianity Explained as our follow-up course after the Passion for Life Mission. It is far easier to organise than Alpha; requires only a six week commitment; focuses on basic issues of the gospel; has a strong section on grace & faith, not works; is based on an exploration of Mark's Gospel, so doesn't require extensive Bible knowledge. Of course, you can always invite people onto Alpha as the next step, but this is probably the place to begin. (Posted on 3/25/10)

Compact and versatile Review by Peter Millist (Pastor)

This course is less comprehensive than Chrisrianity Explored, but nonetheless achieves it's aim in a less in depth way. I consider it more suitable to teenagers and Bible Class settings In this sense it is more versatile than Christianity Explored because pages from the manual are simply photocopied for attendees - making the material ideal for youth week-ends or even a Holiday Bible Club. The main advantage with Christianity Explored is that each attendee gets their own handbook - so better for further study or review.This is not to say that Christianity Explained couldn't be used in an adult setting to good effect, but that it is considered that Explored gives more scope, whereas Explained drills the subject down to more simplified issues. Impressed with the simplicity of the material for people who are exploring Christianity for the first time. Helpful in preparing families for baptism and also evangelistic messages.

I've recently gone back to this as I've started doing baptism preparation again in a new parish (having delegated it in the previous church, as opposed to not bothering!)

The content is great and cannot be faulted. I like the handouts too but they are a bit "rough and ready" and require a bit of work in my opinion to make them look ready to give people (eg the picture on the front of handout 1 is rather obscure). Also - and perhaps this is a mark of how quickly society is changing - I think it has quite a bit of Christian jargon in places.

But it is a great course and I will keep on using it because there is nothing else I have seen that introduces people so easily and straightforwardly to Jesus. (Posted on 9/8/09)

I was looking for something simple and complete to explain our God to people. I showed it to my Pastor and he is now going to use it to teach teachers and new people who join the family of God.
I have noticed you use the word quieries instead of the word questions. It took me a couple of times to get what you meant. Other than that it's great.
