Been used widely in our church and we have found the material really helpful. Rico's presentation is clear and easy to understand and promotes questions a very valuable addition to our Gospel outreach.Rating

A very good accompaniment to the course. Engaging and informative. (Posted on 1/27/10)Rating - Good content but lacks links between the activities Review by John Pascoe

The content of each study is helpful and the overall aim of studying Mark's gospel is good, but there is a lack of guidance between the component parts of each study to tell you how they link together. So why do we take a particular incident or event out of the 2-3 chapters that have been studied for homework and make them the focus of the introductory study next week and how does that link into the talk that is given? This is sound material and a great way to lead people to think about who Jesus is and why Christianity is nothing apart from having Christ in it. For me, the difference between this and Alpha is the clear presentation of the gospel; nothing fuzzy or leading to some kind of wild weekend with the Holy Spirit. We have just finished our first Christianity Explored course and have seen a young couple trust the Lord Jesus. What more can I say? (Posted on 7/15/09)Rating - Many good points - but maybe a little too "wordy" for some Review by Sarah

We have recently used the Christianity Explored course for the first time, and generally have been very impressed. An excellent feature is the way in which it encourages those interested in finding out more about God to read through the whole of Mark's Gospel for themselves during the course. One lady said to us, "I'm really getting in to reading Mark and I didn't expect to. Once I've finished it, I think I'll want to read the rest of the Bible!"Rating
The studies in Discussion 1 are particularly well thought out and provide an excellent lead into the DVD section. The Home Study sections are short and the questions are not difficult to answer, but are still thought-provoking.
Those in our group who committed themselves to working through the study guide definitely benefited from it. However, we are living in a working class community and some of the people who did the course seemed intimidated by the format of the study guides, and so didn't complete them. Maybe a less "wordy" version of the guides could be developed as an alternative (with pictures...)? (Posted on 6/18/09) - Very well presented and fit for purpose. No negatives. Review by Thomas King

This study guide is excellent. It seems very well thought-out. Good presentation is very important, and this is top quality.Rating
The information contained in it about the validity of Mark's gospel is very good and I have used it many many times in all kinds of contexts.
It leads participants through the book of Mark very clearly and helpfully, with no confusion. The home study sets participants in good stead for the coming session.

Christianity Explored is a great program, an improvement upon Alpha in theology (CE is Reformed leaning) as well as presentation. The Bible study, DVD, discussion format is great, and most of the questions are spot on; about 1 in every 10 seem a bit off. (Posted on 4/8/09)Rating - Good Review by Glyn Griffiths

The Study Guide leads one to believe that the whole series of talks will mainly involve Mark's Gospel. I realize that the second half of the Guide tackles subjects which have very few references in Mark, but perhaps some indication of this should be given in the introduction.Rating
The second point is that some of the Home Studies involve quite long passages.
Would it be possible to re-order some talks, e.g. prayer, so that they would come earlier, and spread the Home Studies over a longer period?
Blessings on you for the course! (Posted on 3/10/09) - An excellent guide to Christianity for beginners and for practising Ch Review by Peter Bewes

This book is designed as a companion to the course "Christianity Explored" which is one of the popular courses that churches run for their members(such as Alpha, and Emmaus which are also well known). It has several characteriscs, one of the most valuable being the ability for leaders to modify the way they run the course to suit their members - there are no strict rules.Rating
It takes participants through the gospel of Mark. Those running such courses are encouraged to have leaders guides - slightly thicker books - which are invaluable for leaders - and a set of DVD's which (though not essential)take participants through the gospel in a most helpful way. These DVD's are spoken by Rico Tice - a lively and thoughtful commentator. He built up this course while a curate at London's All Souls Church Langham Place and has a friendly and winsome speaking manner. I thoroughly recommend the Study Guide, and also the DVD set though this was really meant to accompany the course. (Posted on 2/13/09)
