XTB (eXplore The Bible) is a series of daily Bible reading notes for children of the 7-11 age group, with puzzles, pictures and prayers.
XTB is beautifully presented with full-color illustrations and is a series of 12 books which, if used on a quarterly basis, will help a child cover all of the main books, themes and characters of the Bible in 3 years.
Look out for Table Talk - a book of daily Bible times for families with children aged from 4 upwards. The Bible passages are the same each day for XTB and Table Talk - so you can use the two books together, or on their own. Whichever suits you best.
My 6 year old loves these. We are half way through the first book and he is enjoying them - particularly the stickers and the codes. I thought it might be too advanced for him but he is understanding them and getting alot out of it.
We bought these for our 5 year old Daughter. She is too young for them really, and they'd suit better an older child, but already we have had some excellent times in God's word using XTB. I am very impressed with the way that - consistently - the point of the bible passage is very clearly the point of the notes. And the variety of ways that's communicated - through fun and puzzles and games, but also points at which you have to stop and really think things over - make for a great devotional time.
I have just bought a set to work through - for the third time (third boy!). They are excellent and form a great foundation for Bible study.
What's more they engage the children and they are fun. And not too much writing but the kids do have to focus themselves. They are not too girly either.
I waited till my boy was 6. This is because there are only 12 of these study books. More would be welcome.
I will probably do them again.
Have looked at a lot of studies. These are the best.
I have learnt loads from them!
This is just the thing to get kids studying on their own (mine do 10 mins before a bedtime story) and finding out interesting Biblical facts. Presented in a kid friendly way with illustrations and simple but foundational truths one at a time, 3 of my kids have used this to start study on their own, 1 to go so will be getting another set at some point. Ages 7 upwards has worked for us. They also show it to their friends and have sent them to non churched kids for presents with no complaints :)
My 7 year old is really enjoying these. They are a great resource to help children get into the habit of reading the Bible every day. They are great fun as well as excellent at helping children apply the Bible to their lives.
Really good value way of buying these. It is so difficult to find good bible study resources for children, but these are excellent. My children (6 & 8) love them, especially cracking the codes. Quite difficult for the 6 yr old ( but he had grown out of the (also good) Pens ones we had been using and difficult to find anything inbetween) but 8 yr old can do them on her own and finds them really stimulating - she would love to work through several at a time but then I would run out of things for her to do! The little extras (stickers, magnifying glass, prayer journal etc.) also go down well. Each book also explains really well how to become a christian and what it means in your life.
We have been XTB with our 8 year old daughter for over a year now, we use it as 'quiet time' before she goes to bed. She enjoys it so much and it has taught her to think about the Bible far more then if we had just been reading the bible with her. We will continue to do XTB with her every night and will start doing it with her younger sister as she gets older too. What a brilliant concept and very well presented.
My kids really enjoy these and will choose to do them over other stories. Clear, simple and varied applications each day.
Full of colour, puzzles and activities. My 9 year old daughter happily sits and reads it by herself as the level is accessible and activities fun.
Helps my 7 year old son to explore the Bible. The notes are good enough for him to do this independently but obviously far better to do this together so it enables discussion with parents.
