Downloading ebooks to a Kindle

Method One - Transfer file via a computer

  1. Select 'Mobi version (for Kindle)' when you buy an ebook on our site.
  2. You will be taken to a confirmation screen. Follow the link to “My downloadable products” where your eBook purchase will be listed. Simply click the download link, and your browser will download the file. Alternatively, you can click the link in the confirmation email you will be sent after ordering. This will take you to your download page.
  3. Save your Kindle file (.mobi) to your computer. Save it somewhere it can easily be found (i.e. downloads folder on desktop).
  4. Connect your Kindle to your computer with the USB cord that came with your Kindle. Your Kindle should appear on your computer in the same location you would normally find an external USB drive.
  5. Use your computer's file browser to drag and drop file(s) to and from the “Documents” folder located on the hard drive of your Kindle.
  6. When finished, use your computer's undock, eject, or unmount feature to remove your Kindle.
  7. When you open the home page of your Kindle, the new title should appear at the top of the list.

Method Two - Sending to your Kindle via email

  1. Log into your Amazon account on Amazon's website and select the drop down menu called ‘Your account’ and scroll down to ‘Manage Your Content and Devices’.
  2. From the 'Settings' tab scroll down to 'Personal Document Settings'.
  3. You should see the names of the devices you have linked to your Amazon account with an email address ending with '@kindle.com'
  4. Make note of the email address for the device you want to use as this is what we need to send the eBook to.
  5. Ensure that you know where you have saved the eBook download from the email. If you are unsure follow the steps 6 - 8 . If you know where you have saved the .mobi file then proceed to step 9.
  6. Open either your email that you received from us with the download for the eBook. Select the .mobi version (for kindles). Or Log into your online account with the Good Book Company. Select your account and find the red box called ‘your orders’. Select the relevant order and open the ‘Order Details’.
  7. Download the .mobi version of the eBook. You should then be able to find the download on your computer under downloads.
  8. If you want to check – open the start menu ‘My Computer’. Find the ‘Downloads’ File. You should find the download in this file - remember it will be a .mobi file.
  9. Open an new email – use the email address that is connected to your Amazon account. Put in the email address for your kindle (the one we got during step…3)
