Customer reviews

“Excellent service”

(Review written for 'Truth for Life')

I ordered 'Truth for Life' x 5 copies for Christmas gifts, unfortunately on arrival 2 copies were damaged, I contacted customer services right away and within 24 hours I had 2 replacements and was told to keep the damaged copies. Fantastic service, great pricing, I will be using the good-looking company again.

“love it”

(Review written for 'Truth for Life')

I love devotionals and I love discovering new ones. This one is a wonderful addition to all my devotionals.

This devotional is specifically structured to be read for an entire year. It starts on January 1st and end on December 31st for a total of 365 days of devotions.

Each devotional follows the same format:

- Title

- Scripture Reference

- Begg's insights

- Additional Scripture Reading

The book also provides a Bible Through the Year reading. At the bottom of each day's devotion there is a reference to Scripture reading that will lead the reader through the entire bible in one year. Each devotion takes one side of a page and the book is still quite quite large which is understandable given it's meant for an entire year's worth of readings.

I had never heard of Begg prior to this devotional but am impressed with his writings. He seems to have incredible wisdom and knowledge regarding scripture and is not afraid to be blunt about what Jesus is teaching us. Begg is not only an author but a preacher and radio personality at Truth for Life. He served in churches in Scotland before coming to the States.

I enjoyed reading through this devotional. His writings were saturated with Scripture and wonderful wisdom and insights.

My only negative is that the print is extremely small. I am young and have decent eye sight but the small print was a struggle for me.

I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.

“Not your ordinary devotional”

(Review written for 'Truth for Life')

Alistair Begg recently released his newest book, Truth For Life: 365 Daily Devotions. Bearing his Bible-teaching ministry’s namesake, this new devotional book is a wonderful reflection of his ministry’s mission to teach the Bible with clarity and relevance.

Like most devotional books, Truth For Life follows the same format of having dates, titles, and scripture texts as guides for day-to-day reading. Each devotional is at least four-paragraphs-long and includes additional Scripture passages for further study. What sets this devotional book apart from others is at the bottom of each devotional you will see three distinct icons designed to prompt you to ask yourself:

How is God calling me to think differently?
How is God reordering my heart’s affections—what I love?
What is God calling me to do as I go about my day today?

Each devotional is short but meaty. They actually remind me of Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening devotionals, which Alistair Begg revised and updated a few years ago. His presentation of the word is very warm and pastoral which beautifully mirrors his decades in the pastoral ministry. Faithful and clear -- this is the way he presents the Scriptures. His reflections are simple yet profound which in turn will cause you to reflect and ponder. I love that he sometimes uses vivid anecdotes to relate to the text which I find very enjoyable to read. He concludes each devotional with an application that points you to Christ.

Final thoughts

Truth For Life is not your ordinary devotional. True to its title, the pages of this book contain truth and wisdom taken from God’s Word to guide you from day to day. These devotionals will help you to think and live guided by the Scripture.

This beautiful hardback book with a matching ribbon marker makes a perfect gift this holiday season.

(Review written for 'Truth for Life')

I love a highly applicable devotional. It's super encouraging every day and helps me get my head and heart aligned and ready to tackle what life has for me.

“Encouraging Daily Devotions”

(Review written for 'Truth for Life')

Lovely book to help with your morning or evening devotions. The reflections seem to be written to encourage us and to learn more about what God is like, guiding us to a simple point that will spur us on in the day. The print quality and binding is also very high quality, so it'll last well for the full year. It's also useful to have a Bible in a Year plan included at the bottom of each page. Will buy a second copy for a friend as it'll be great to be reading the same reflections together.
