About this book

Most of us find evangelism hard. There is great hostility towards Jesus. But there is also great hunger for Jesus and there is no greater joy than seeing people come to know him.

This realistic and humorous book by Rico Tice will help prepare and encourage you to be honest and bold in your evangelism, presenting the gospel fully and properly, even when it's tough.

Rico Tice is the Founder of Christianity Explored Ministries and Senior Minister (Evangelism) at All Souls Church, London.

Endorsements

I read this through in one sitting - it is realistic, challenging and wonderfully helpful. I am anxious to get this book into the hands of my congregation.

Alistair Begg Bible Teacher, Truth For Life; Previous Senior Pastor, Parkside Church, Cleveland; Author, Pray Big and The Christian Manifesto

I try to regularly read books on prayer and evangelism, because both are so vital to Christian maturity and both are so difficult. The strength of this book is that Rico does lots of personal evangelism, and yet, he is very honest about how personal evangelism is still a struggle for him. A short book full of good encouragement.

Kevin DeYoung Senior Pastor, Christ Covenant Church, Matthews, NC; author, Crazy Busy and Just Do Something

A great read that is both realistic and hopeful about our evangelism, written by a man whom God has used mightily to spread the gospel. Every Christian will benefit from this.

Rebecca Manley Pippert Author of Out of the Saltshaker; founder of Becky Pippert Ministries

Rico is one of the clearest and most faithful evangelists alive today, and no one is in a better position to write a book like this for cultures where the good news sounds remote and increasingly encounters hostility. I can't wait to use it.

Michael S. Horton Professor of Theology and Apologetics, Westminster Seminary, California

Honest to a fault and deeply challenging—but big-hearted, Christ-centred and wonderfully encouraging. That is Honest Evangelism, because that is Rico Tice—witness to sinners and equipper of saints. Honest Evangelism is a much-needed book from someone who knows what he is talking about.

Sinclair B. Ferguson Teaching Fellow of Ligonier Ministries; Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary

A good and timely book that is rich in wisdom, grace and guidance. Challenging, liberating and above all encouraging. Read it !

Canon J. John Speaker + Author

We desperately need to read this book. It is compelling, as Rico calls us to be both realistic and courageous as we lovingly take the the gospel to a generation which is so reluctant to listen. Reading this book made me want to speak to my neighbours and friends about the Lord Jesus. ‘Honest Evangelism’ is the ‘Know and Tell the Gospel’ for today. I pray that every Christian would get it and read it!

Gary Millar Principal, Queensland Theological College, Australia; author of Saving Eutychus

There are plenty of "how to" books on evangelism—this isn't one of them. It speaks to the heart, engages with the realities of a hardening culture, and with genuine freshness faces me with my hurts and fears and encourages me to overcome them.

Hugh Palmer Former Rector of All Souls Langham Place, London

If we are honest, none of us find evangelism easy and we make a lot of excuses. This down-to-earth, practical book provides us with useful tools to help us overcome our fear.

Steve Clifford General Director, Evangelical Alliance

This is what we have come to expect from Rico—passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus, endearingly diffident about his own experiences in doing so, and therefore winsomely attractive in encouraging every believer to play our part in winning this and the next generation's commitment to Christ. No one who reads this can be anything but inspired—but also practically helped to share our faith.

Paul Perkin senior pastor of St Mark’s Battersea Rise, London

Honest Evangelism offers great inspiration without the ‘guilty’ factor being thrown in. Rico has written in such a way that makes the reader think ‘I can do this.’ You can read it by yourself or it would be great to work through in a group over a few weeks. Thanks to Rico for this gift to the Body of Christ!

Steve Uppal Senior Leader, All Nations Christian Centre, Wolverhampton

Rico Tice has a love and passion for sharing the message of a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

5.00 stars Great for small groups

(Review written for 'Honest Evangelism (ebook)')

We read this book during lockdown over zoom for a church book group. It was great to be thinking of evangelism (what it is/isn't, why we do/don't, looking from God's view not just ours) and helped us to make most of new opportunities that God has given us in this moment.
For each session we would discuss the previous chapter for 30 minutes and then someone/people would read the next chapter. This gave us a week to dwell on what we heard and read and let it sink it.
Definitely recommend reading it in a group although i'm sure it ...

5.00 stars very honest

As one who is petrified on door to door work, I found Honest Evangelism reassuring - and very honest and realistic. I gave a book review in church and got 4 takers. The book is not glib, but refreshingly honest.
