Honest Evangelism

I read this through in one sitting - it is realistic, challenging and wonderfully helpful. I am anxious to get this book into the hands of my congregation.

I try to regularly read books on prayer and evangelism, because both are so vital to Christian maturity and both are so difficult. The strength of this book is that Rico does lots of personal evangelism, and yet, he is very honest about how personal evangelism is still a struggle for him. A short book full of good encouragement.

A great read that is both realistic and hopeful about our evangelism, written by a man whom God has used mightily to spread the gospel. Every Christian will benefit from this.

Rico is one of the clearest and most faithful evangelists alive today, and no one is in a better position to write a book like this for cultures where the good news sounds remote and increasingly encounters hostility. I can't wait to use it.

We desperately need to read this book. It is compelling, as Rico calls us to be both realistic and courageous as we lovingly take the the gospel to a generation which is so reluctant to listen. Reading this book made me want to speak to my neighbours and friends about the Lord Jesus. ‘Honest Evangelism’ is the ‘Know and Tell the Gospel’ for today. I pray that every Christian would get it and read it!

There are plenty of "how to" books on evangelism—this isn't one of them. It speaks to the heart, engages with the realities of a hardening culture, and with genuine freshness faces me with my hurts and fears and encourages me to overcome them.

If we are honest, none of us find evangelism easy and we make a lot of excuses. This down-to-earth, practical book provides us with useful tools to help us overcome our fear.

This is what we have come to expect from Rico—passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus, endearingly diffident about his own experiences in doing so, and therefore winsomely attractive in encouraging every believer to play our part in winning this and the next generation's commitment to Christ. No one who reads this can be anything but inspired—but also practically helped to share our faith.

Honest Evangelism offers great inspiration without the ‘guilty’ factor being thrown in. Rico has written in such a way that makes the reader think ‘I can do this.’ You can read it by yourself or it would be great to work through in a group over a few weeks.
