“Perfect Blend of Faith and Science behind our feelings and emotions”
I've always argued that the scariest place for me personally is in between my two ears. Our thoughts can take us to some dark places, spouting lies as truth, and hold us back from the freedom we have in Christ. I have read many books on thoughts/emotions, and how to navigate both the physical realities within a Christian context.Â
Disentangled by Jo Johnson is a straightforward, easy-to-digest exploration of how our thoughts and feelings affect both our spiritual and mental health. I was under the impression this book would be more clinical; however, while it does include statistics and case studies, the overall focus is more spiritual. Nbad thing — just letting anyone else know who is looking for ce that perhaps is more scientific, with a sprinkling of faith — this book is more faith with a sprinkling of science.
I actually read this book cover to cover one afternoon in about 2 hours (which Johnson suggests is essential to read straight through, not skipping around or bypassing specific chapters), and it was that engaging. I love how each chapter ends wth "Pause in God's Mirror," which pushes the reader into personal reflection and response.Â
I recommend this book for young adults, perfect for small groups, and highly beneficial for someone struggling to navigate how their feelings work within the context of faith
