“Just what I wanted and needed”

After using a Daily Bible and Prayer notes devotional over the past few years, I was on the lookout for something deeper, challenging and uncompromising. I found all these in Alistair Begg’s new book. Absolutely delighted with this and the swift delivery of said item. I cannot recommend both more highly.

“Definitely worth reading”

A superb book that is inspirational and full of biblical wisdom. This has encouraged me to delve into scripture each day and what's more it's reusable!

“A very good read”

I bought this book for my wife and she is really enjoying it 'a very good read'

“Encouraging and challenging”

Great book for daily reading. Great for encouraging at start of day. Also manages to challenge you for the day ahead.
Only drawback is the print is very small.

“This devotional has everything! Sure to be a classic!”

This well-thought out and gospel-centered devotional is full of wisdom and truth with every component of a devotional that you could ask for.

Each day is one page with Scripture at the top followed by devotions that are focused on God.

There are 3 icons at the bottom prompting 3 questions:
*How is God calling me to think differently?
*How is God reordering my hearts affections - what I love?
*What is God calling me to do as I go about my day today?
Beside these icons are Scripture references to dig deeper into God's word with that day's devotion. Many are about a chapter in length which is a great way to expand beyond the single page devotion.

At the very bottom of each page is a "Bible Through The Year" section that you can follow along with to also read the Bible in its entirety during the year while working through this devotional book.

At first glance, this may seem like a quick and easy read each day, which it could absolutely be if you have limited time. However, you could also use this book and spend a good 45 minutes or longer in God's Word if you read and consider all the different prompts and passages on each page. I appreciate this versatility to be able to adapt it to different schedules.

In my personal opinion, this devotional is going to be a classic for years to come along the lines of Spurgeon's Morning and Evening. It's definitely a book that can and will be read year after year.

And bonus - it includes a ribbon bookmark to keep track of where you are! This is a little detail, but one that I actually really appreciate.

The print is a bit on the small side, but the content is so great that I'm glad they crammed in everything that the could on each page.

“Thought provoking, soul nourishing...”

Thought provoking, soul nourishing; we look forward to reading it each day. Good for couples!

“A daily encouragement”

A great little book which brings thoughts from Alistair in a really encouraging style and is a great encouragement as you start the day.

“Text too small to read”

At 9 point, the text is too small for me to read. I'm sure the content is very good. I had to buy the Kindle edition.

I gave it as a present so will ask them later

“Amazing Devotional”

Truth For Life - Alistair Begg

If you are someone who judges a book by it's cover then you will do very well to choose Truth For Life by Alistair Begg.
Not only is this book in my opinion very aesthetically pleasing and a joy to hold, it is an even greater joy to read.

Truth For Life is a daily devotion containing 365 devotional readings for you to read and be encouraged and challenged by throughout the year.

What sets this daily devotion apart from others is that at the bottom of every devotion you will see head, heart and hands. (Picture 3)
These images are there so that after your time of reading you can ask yourself:

* How is God calling me to think differently?

* How is God reordering my heart's affections - what I love?

* What is God calling me to do as I go about my day today?

I love this feature as it encourages us to be doers of the word and not just hearers and I have found it creates good discussion when reading the devotional with someone else, it can be a great way to hold one another accountable.

I tend to read this devotional around lunchtime so that it doesn't interrupt my morning time in the word and I always want to encourage people not to replace their bible time with a devotional.
However this devotional is really helpful because after reading Begg's commentary on the verse for the day you will find there is an extra Bible passage next to the head heart and hands which compliments the reflection for the day.

As you will see in picture 4 there is also a reading plan at the bottom of each page to help you read through the whole Bible in a year. I find that this devotional is great because rather than it becoming your main source of spiritual food, it really encourages you to get into the Bible more.

I was given this as a review copy but I am enjoying it so much that I am continuing to use it each day.

I think that this book would make a wonderful Christmas present for someone.
