“Each guide in this series provides a framework for your group to dig into the text of Scripture for itself while providing enough of a steer to keep you on track plus useful pointers towards application. I love this small group study guide series from The Good Book Company. Christians are regularly told they should spend more time studying God’s Word, but sometimes there’s not a clear plan for how to do this. These study guides provide practical, step-by-step guidance on working through books of the Bible, along with wonderful questions that encourage reflection and application. I hope churches and Christian ministries will take advantage of this wonderful resource.

The aim of the The Good Book Company is to be biblical, relevant and accessible, and nothing embodies that ethos more than their Good Book Guides. Each guide provides a framework for your group to dig into the text of Scripture for itself while providing enough of a steer to keep you on track plus useful pointers towards application. The result is a great combination of fidelity to Scripture and ease of use.

The Good Book Guides are an immensely precious resource for the church. A careful blend of helpful context and clearly-worded, searching questions which aim to help readers to uncover the meaning of the text and  apply it in responsible ways. I think these small group studies are the best available and pray that they will continue to prove helpful to local churches across the world!

“Great for personal or group study!”

(Review written for 'Daniel: Staying Strong in a Hostile World (ebook)')

This is a great resource for personal study or group study. At the back of the book there is a leader's guide which I thought was well written. I also appreciated the note to the leaders which reminds them that each group is unique so it is useful to adapt the study to the individual group.
At the beginning of the book, there is a section for why it is important to study Daniel and then a timeline which visually allows the reader to understand where Daniel falls in the larger timeline. This was one of my favorite parts of the book and is memorable.
I also appreciated the dictionary section in each section which defines some words that may not commonly be understood but are important such as Ancient of Days and adversaries. I feel that having the dictionary section can invite people to ask questions about meanings of words they may not understand instead of skipping the word altogether.
There are some pieces that are labeled optional such as exploring more and getting personal. I thought these were useful and wish they were not labeled as optional but maybe a shorter and longer study. I highly recommend doing the optional pieces if you are going through this as I think it will help you get the most from the study!
Overall this is a great resource for those wanting to study Daniel!

“Excellent Bible Study Resource”

I serve on the women’s Bible study team at our church, so I’m always looking for good Bible study resources. These Good Book guides check all the right boxes. The “Investigate”questions help students to observe and think critically about the text. They’re deep enough so that you can understand the passage, but not overly intimidating or academic. The “apply” questions help students to make connections between the text and their own hearts and lives. The “Dictionary” vocab words sprinkled throughout the study are also nice.

There are a few optional sections. The “Getting Personal” questions are great for personal reflection and may be good discussion questions for groups that have an established rapport. The “Explore More” section allows eager students to dig even deeper into related Biblical texts.

The “Talkabout” question serves as an icebreaker for group discussions, and the leader guide which includes answers to the questions and helpful notes is incredibly valuable for Bible study leaders and facilitators. One of my fellow Bible study team members pointed out that because the leader guide is printed within the study, the participants also have all the answers at their fingertips. Some might find this problematic, but I personally don’t see it as a problem. As a participant, I think I would appreciate the “safety net” of having the answers—especially if I ever had to miss the group discussion.

I am going through the Daniel guide right now on my own, and it has made an intimidating book of the Bible feel accessible!

Overall, I’m grateful for this resource and definitely hope to use it in my personal study and our local church context.

“Excellent material”

(Review written for 'Daniel: Staying strong in a hostile world')

I write on behalf of the home group that I act as co-ordinator for to say we have recently followed studies on Ruth as well as Daniel. These have been new resources for our group and we have found them stimulating and encouraging. We have learned a great deal from both as they have encouraged us to look more closely at Old Testament history as part of our studies which has enriched our times together. We will definitely be using more of these in future.

“Excellent!”

(Review written for 'Daniel: Staying strong in a hostile world')

This is such a good study guide! I have used it to prepare and lead my Bible study group and have found it excellent. Good questions and I love the ‘Explore more’ bits which one can look at or leave out depending on time.

“Excellent for small group”

(Review written for 'Daniel: Staying strong in a hostile world')

We studied this in our homegroup and found it perfect for our needs. Informative, giving information for different levels of discussion. The section each week getting us to disuss how we could bring what we had learnt into our present circumstances encouraged good discussions. The more in -depth answers to questions at the back of the study were helpful to those leading Overall I highly recommend this series. (studied Ruth and Jonah) Thank you

“Helps you dig deeper”

(Review written for 'Daniel: Staying strong in a hostile world')

This is the first time I've studied Daniel in any depth, and, WOW!

It's given me (by Gods grace and wisdom) such clairty and insight into the message/s that God teaches us through Daniel. I love the approach this study guide takes through the book, how the questions really make you think, but also how it directly addresses the reader in the "make it personal" sections.

“Amazing Study for small groups”

(Review written for 'Daniel: Staying strong in a hostile world')

We used this book for our ladies' Bible study in the neighborhood - all of us in different stages of our lives. The content, the helpful guide, the relation to the OT and NT and then to our lives was awesome! We are now starting a new group and will continue with The Goodbook Guide.
