Brothers and Sisters Serving Alongside You

Since our founding in 1991, we’ve grown into an international, employee-owned company with offices in the United Kingdom and the United States, and partnerships in Australia, New Zealand, and around the world. We’re committed to hiring people who share our passion for the gospel and are aligned with our mission: to faithfully support and encourage its spread, and to help Christians grow in their understanding and love of the Lord Jesus Christ with clarity and care.

James Burstow | President and Co-CEO

James joined the company in 2003 as our very first sales and marketing hire—and he’s been helping us grow ever since. He played a key role in launching and expanding our US operation and increasing sales in Australia, and now serves as President and Co-CEO. He was an early adopter of Zoom and is the current record-holder for most meetings attended in a single week! A former English teacher in Chile and Japan, and corporate fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, James is also a keen musician and leads the music at his local church.

Carl Laferton | Publisher and Co-CEO

Carl has been at TGBC for 15 years and still can’t quite believe that he gets to spend his working life thinking about the gospel, people and books. He’s had various roles at TGBC and is now Publisher and Co-CEO. Carl has written a few titles, including The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross; Christmas Uncut; and God’s Big Promises Bible Storybook. He’s married to Lizzie, and they and their two kids are part of a wonderful new church plant, Life Church Hackbridge, where he preaches from time to time and coleads the kids' ministry. He enjoys going running (or at least the feeling of having been for a run), watching any sport that isn’t figure skating, and reading anything about history.

Thomas Seidler | EVP Production and Facilities

Tom has enjoyed serving with gifted and experienced individuals in various departments over the last two decades at the company. He is married to Rowina and blessed with three delightful little ones. He serves as an elder at a small south London church. Jesus’ willingness to outrage an evil culture by doing good continues to astound him.

Kathy Thornborough | EVP Finance

Kathy has been keeping track of the finances since the company appeared in her living room 34 years ago. Now that her children don't need her quite so much, she spends time helping with the Sunday school at her local church, as well as sharing God's love by helping non-native speakers gain confidence with the English language.

Tim Thornborough | Rights Marketing and Development Manager, Founder, and Chair of Trustees

Tim started life at a young age and was a lost child until Jesus found him wandering aimlessly as a teenager. Since then, he has studied theology, danced ballet, cared for the homeless, worked as a journalist in the Middle East, and along the way started The Good Book Company. He still loves writing, performing, Bible teaching and visiting battlefields. Tim's wife, Kathy, is less keen on all those things, but they still enjoy a good walk and listening to audiobooks together. They church in Wimbledon but run outreach ministries in their local suburb. Three adult daughters do their best to keep Tim's hair grey and and threaten to bankrupt him by demanding lavish weddings, none of which have been announced yet, but feel free to drift along if one pops up—everyone else will be there.

Peter Anderson | SVP of US Operations and Global Stock Control

Despite the crazy-long job title, Peter's role is pretty straight-forward—it's his job to meddle in everyone else's work and make sure they have the support and equipment needed to keep on creating and distributing biblical, relevant, accessible (and award-winning!) books. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano, exploring new places (big cities and mountains are his favorite), and chasing ever higher scores on Duolingo. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, he now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and worships at Oakhurst Baptist Church.

Paige Hebda | VP of People, Culture and Governance

Paige is the VP of People, Culture and Governance, where she leads an all-star team and is dedicated to creating a strong and positive workplace culture. At home, she’s navigating life with her husband, three kids and an unshakably optimistic loyalty to NC State—because who needs a winning season when you’ve got commitment? When she’s not tackling spreadsheets, toddlers or cheering on her beloved Wolfpack, she’s capturing life’s moments through photography. She and her family live in Raleigh, NC and are members of Imago Dei Church.

Tom Beard | SVP of IT

Tom enjoys all aspects of the digital and data side of publishing. He is a member of Dundonald Church, Raynes Park and baking things with more sugar in them than is good for him.

Nick Bannister | US Sales Director

Nick loves to read good books and talk with others about them—so he considers being the US Sales Director at TGBC a dream job! Nick grew up in the mountains of Colorado with seven siblings but now calls the vibrant city of Chicago home. He is married to his lovely wife, Katie, and is a member of Edgewater Baptist Church.
