I love this small group study guide series from The Good Book Company. Christians are regularly told they should spend more time studying God’s Word, but sometimes there’s not a clear plan for how to do this. These study guides provide practical, step-by-step guidance on working through books of the Bible, along with wonderful questions that encourage reflection and application. I hope churches and Christian ministries will take advantage of this wonderful resource.

The aim of the The Good Book Company is to be biblical, relevant and accessible, and nothing embodies that ethos more than their Good Book Guides. Each guide provides a framework for your group to dig into the text of Scripture for itself while providing enough of a steer to keep you on track plus useful pointers towards application. The result is a great combination of fidelity to Scripture and ease of use.

The Good Book Guides are an immensely precious resource for the church. A careful blend of helpful context and clearly-worded, searching questions which aim to help readers to uncover the meaning of the text and  apply it in responsible ways. I think these small group studies are the best available and pray that they will continue to prove helpful to local churches across the world!

“I’d recommend this study for a beginner at Bible study and recommend this in a group setting!”

I recently went through this study with two of my friends and my mom. It was a wonderful time of gathering together every Friday for six weeks. I chose to go through this because I figured 1 kings is not a typical book that somebody spends much time in a group setting reading and discussing. And I want to dig into all of Scripture going beyond just reading. I really enjoyed the questions that caused us to discuss things in our own lives as I felt it was a great opportunity to grow in relationship with one another. I think this is a great study for somebody who is brand new to Bible study because many of the questions ask you to look at specific verses and passages looking for specific answers to questions. So for somebody who is new to Bible study and not really sure what to look for it helps you to know how to grab out those different observations. I also appreciated how it had a little dictionary sections of words I found that would be super helpful for somebody brand new to Bible study as well. I wouldn’t recommend this study to somebody who is a very mature and seasoned Bible study student unless they are wanting to take some people under their wing and just get them to jump into Bible study. However, it does have great opportunity to have really meaningful discussion in a group. This study also connected application quite well. So I think they did really well at leading thoughtful discussion, applying to life and encouraging prayer. I enjoyed the time going through it.

Thanks so much for sharing this thoughtful review, Aria! We're so glad that this study worked well for your group.
