About this book

This seven-session Bible study on selected psalms by Christopher Ash and Alison Mitchell will explore how the Psalms point us to Jesus.

With examples from all five books of the Psalter, discover how the Psalms were sung by Jesus and fulfilled by Jesus—and how this transforms the way we read them, enjoy them, and sing them ourselves, as we join the King's choir.

Each session will draw you to look closely at the Bible text and apply it meaningfully to your everyday life. The guide includes questions that open up discussion, optional personal reflections, and a concise Leader’s Guide.

Endorsements

I love this small group study guide series from The Good Book Company. Christians are regularly told they should spend more time studying God’s Word, but sometimes there’s not a clear plan for how to do this. These study guides provide practical, step-by-step guidance on working through books of the Bible, along with wonderful questions that encourage reflection and application. I hope churches and Christian ministries will take advantage of this wonderful resource.

The aim of the The Good Book Company is to be biblical, relevant and accessible, and nothing embodies that ethos more than their Good Book Guides. Each guide provides a framework for your group to dig into the text of Scripture for itself while providing enough of a steer to keep you on track plus useful pointers towards application. The result is a great combination of fidelity to Scripture and ease of use.

The Good Book Guides are an immensely precious resource for the church. A careful blend of helpful context and clearly-worded, searching questions which aim to help readers to uncover the meaning of the text and  apply it in responsible ways. I think these small group studies are the best available and pray that they will continue to prove helpful to local churches across the world!

5.00 stars Very good Guide to some of the Psalms

(Review written for 'Psalms: Singing with Jesus')

Our group has used quite a few of these books now, Psalms Singing with Jesus was another excellent study for us, the 7 Psalms chosen to explore in the book were varied and enabled us to look back in the old testament and forward into some exciting prophesy coming in the new testament.

We're so glad that your group has been enjoying the Good Book Guides, Janet! Thank you so much for sharing your review.

5.00 stars Great Reflections and Small Group Study Option

(Review written for 'Psalms: Singing with Jesus')

It's often hard to find a good small group study to do. I've done two of these Good Book Guides now and I think these are an excellent option. I did them as a solo study but it's geared more for small groups with a leader's guide included in the back. The questions are reflective and conducive for discussion and it has good application as well.

In this Psalms study they covered nine different Psalms and I loved the way ...

This is a fantastic Bible study book. The description of it being "accessible" is spot on. The questions strike an ideal balance between reading comprehension and application. The set reading for each study is a healthy chunk, but not overwhelming, and it's great to be able to engage with God's Word by actively answering the book's questions.
