"Fun, accessible and empowering for families!” - Bear Grylls
Take your family on a journey to discover how the Bible fits together. Fun and feasible, even for busy families, each 15-minute devotion puts a specific Bible story into place in God’s grand narrative and connects God’s story to your family’s story today.
Designed to do with kids from as young as 5, this interactive resource is fun, meaningful and educational.
Your family will gain a clearer view of the big picture of God’s word each session as you read and ...discuss…
You can read the teaching sections aloud or scan a QR code to listen to audio from the authors instead. Sessions also include discussion questions, an easy application step and a short prayer. At the end of each week, a special review session helps reinforce what you’ve learned, including a memory verse.
Week 1’s sessions include optional video content as well as audio.
You can also begin each devotion by revealing a colorful illustrated card that represents that day’s theme. As the weeks go by, the cards form a growing visual timeline of God’s unfolding story. (Cards sold separately.)
Your purchase also gives you access to additional materials, including church resources designed to help families from your congregation. Used Sunday by Sunday, they’ll help your whole church feel part of a shared journey through God’s Story, Our Story.
God’s Story, Our Story is a wonderful journey through the Bible for your family. Written by Charlotte Ollerton and Andrew Ollerton, this family devotional shows how the whole Bible fits together.
Meant for busy families, each 15-minute devotion includes teaching, discussion questions, prayer, and activities. I especially appreciated how the devotions focus on a specific Bible character, event, or theme. This makes each devotional unique and memorable.
The Larger Story
Audio readings are also integrated into each devotion, and video is provided for the first week of devotions. Sold separately, the God’s Story, Our Story Journey Cards represent the day’s theme and are a great way to reinforce the lessons and visually engage with the Bible.
God’s Story, Our Story combines biblical depth with an engaging, accessible format. Help your family see how each Bible story fits into the larger story of Scripture.
I received a media copy of God’s Story, Our Story and this is my honest review. @diveindigdeep
I really appreciate the emphasis on Scripture memory, and I also love that there are extra online resources, including audio versions of each devotional and accompanying lessons for churches. As a whole, the book moves through the Bible chronologically, allowing children to understand how all of Scripture points to God's redemptive work.
There were a few things, however, that didn't quite work for me.
The authors add imaginative elements to some of the Bible stories that go beyond Scripture. For example, they create dialogue between Isaac and Abraham as they climb Mount Moriah. I know that these additions may help bring the stories to life for young readers, but I personally prefer Bible stories to stick closely to what Scripture actually tells us.
It also includes a couple of my Bible story pet peeves. 😅 It says that people made fun of Noah and that Jonah was swallowed by a whale (not a fish), even though Scripture doesn't specifically tell us either of those things. There was also a statement in the Jeremiah lesson that suggested that children might want to marry their teachers; this felt a little weird and unnecessary.
One other thing to note: because this book was published in the UK, American readers may notice some differences in spelling and grammar.
Overall, I appreciate that this devotional encourages families to spend time in God's Word together and to memorize Scripture. The online resources are a great bonus too! While some of the imaginative additions to the biblical stories weren't my preference, I think the format and emphasis on regular time in Scripture could still make this a good fit for some families.

God's Story, Our Story is a standout family devotional designed to guide children through the overarching narrative of the Bible over a structured nine-week period. Beginning at Creation and concluding with the ...New Creation, the book covers key milestones across redemptive history, helping young readers understand how individual Scripture passages fit into God's grand plan.
Key Features & Structure:

Why It Works:
The structured format makes Bible study accessible without feeling overwhelming. It breaks complex theological themes into manageable concepts while encouraging active dialogue between parents and children. Final Verdict:
An exceptional tool for family devotions, homeschool Bible curricula, or discipling young readers. It equips children to engage with Scripture thoughtfully, memorize key truths, and apply God's Word to their daily lives.
