“And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?” (Romans 10:14)
Each one of us came to saving faith in Jesus and was brought into God’s family because of faithful witnesses sharing the gospel message. And so, it’s our privilege as the church to keep on telling others this amazing news!
This book gives readers practical, biblical wisdom on how to share the gospel in a compassionate and winsome way. Using many real-life examples, Jonathan K. Dodson encourages readers to live in a manner that draws people to the truth and beauty of Christ. And to proclaim the gospel with a natural ease that speaks ...into the lives of the people we meet. Together with your church family, you can feel confident in reaching the community through effective Spirit-filled evangelism, underlined with confident, persistent prayer.
There are action steps and reflection questions at the end of every chapter. Additionally, you can find discussion questions at the back, which makes this resource ideal for small groups. (A PDF version of the discussion guide is also available.)
This book is part of the Love Your Church series, a collection of thoughtful and practical books that will inspire every church member with a biblical vision of what it means to be a local community of God’s family. Church members can explore together what it means to belong, to welcome, to gather, to care, to serve, and to honor one another, and to witness and send people out to spread the gospel.

Evangelizing can be scary if it is something you haven’t done and Dodson does a great job highlighting how there can be difficulties socially, culturally, ect. yet that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t evangelize. I appreciated Dodson talking through laying down roots and integrating into a community and being question forward. I also loved when he talked about praying for those who don’t know Jesus in our lives as important work.
He also touches on being aware of how you act because you do represent Jesus to those who don’t know him.
This book touches on many areas of evangelism which ...can make it a great book if you are newer to this topic. There are also questions at the end of each chapter for further reflection which makes this great for personal study or a small group study.
In college, I was part of a small group that intentionally took time to evangelize together and then have discussions around this. This book could be a great starting point for your small group to try something similar!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review and all thoughts are my own.

"We all talk about what we’re taken with. If we are taken with Jesus, we will talk about Jesus."
This quote pretty much sums up the heart of this book. I would say it’s a great one to read in community to talk about witnessing and evangelism. There are discussion questions at the end of each chapter and a small group guide in the back of the book.
I enjoyed how this book talks about sharing our faith and how it can be incorporated into our everyday lives. I think sometimes we can feel intimidated or unsure of where to begin when it comes to sharing the Gospel, but Dodson takes that pressure out of it in the way he instructs the reader.
This book features a whole chapter on biblical evangelism, and I appreciated that because we can look to the Bible to help guide us on where to start instead of thinking we know best.
There’s also a chapter on prayer and trusting God when it comes to praying for those without Christ. I like that this wasn’t left out. Prayer is so important when it comes to having a heart for sharing the Gospel.
This is another great addition to the Love Your Church series.
