Expository Bible-study guide to Isaiah.
Part of the God's Word For You series.
Isaiah can seem intimidating. It's a big book covering an extended timescale, full of unfamiliar names and places. You may be familiar with Isaiah's vision of God's holiness in chapter 6 or his description of the cross in chapter 53. But large sections can feel like alien territory.
But the book of Isaiah is full of good news. Forming a kind of bridge between the Old Testament and the New Testament, Isaiah enlarges our view of God, sharpens our understanding of salvation, and illuminates our Bible reading. It points forward to Jesus and fuels our vision for the church and our mission. This is good news worth shouting about!
This expository guide by pastor and author Tim Chester takes you verse by verse through the text in a digestible and applied way. Each chapter focuses on a key text and shows how its themes play out in the surrounding passages, helping you to drill down into the details while also seeing the big picture. You'll find ideas and challenges for application throughout, plus a helpful glossary at the back.
It is less academic than a traditional commentary and includes lots of application. It can be read from cover to cover, used in personal devotions, used to lead small group studies, or used for sermon preparation.

This study is most helpful. It is easy to read and very informative. I am recommending it for the students of my course that I am teaching on Isaiah.
Currently using this book for Bible Study at my church. we are only a few chapters in, but the teaching has been excellent. Solid, Bible based teaching. I would recommend this book and this author.
Tim Chester writes fabulous studies on some of the most interesting books in THE BIBLE.
A great exposition on the book of Isaiah with some practical learning points. Combines scholarly insight with an easy to read narrative.

This book is a resource in the For You series from The Good Book Company. They have several books in this series that cover specific books of the Bible or specific passages of the Bible.
The book is written as an expository guide to the book of Isaiah. Chester takes the reader through the entire book of Isaiah verse by verse. The book is structured with thirteen chapters, divided into specific themes throughout Isaiah. Each chapter is split into two parts with each part ending with reflection questions. These reflection questions allow the reader to dig a big deeper into the application of the specific section of scripture.
Chester does a great job of bringing the big picture to the surface along with the important details. I do feel this is more of a reference book rather than a devotional, although some could use it as such.
It is important to utilize this book alongside reading through the book of Isaiah. It is not a stand alone book, from my perspective. I did enjoy the book and look forward to checking out some of their other For You books.
I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.
A really good overview of the book, delving into some of the main themes and directing you towards how to see Christ through Isaiah. As a preacher, it's particularly useful so that I can find the overarching themes in that section of the book and begin to see how it might be applied. I'm an avid user of the "For You" series and Tim Chester's Isaish volume is as good as the rest!
