I am using it with my highschool group. I find it easy to use as well as very insightful to the Word of God. My students have enjoyed the topics and the book. Thanks

I was thrilled to see this option for young teens. Discipleship is a necessity within the church but is often forgotten or simply ignored because it's difficult or misunderstood. Adults struggle to implement discipleship but we are called to do so and teens are just as capable of doing so as well.
Chester and Morgan structure the book as follows:
- Introduction
- Four Parts: Putting Out Shoots, Seeing Things Differently, Connecting with God, Living it Out
- Activities and ...Reflections
Each part includes three sections. Each section includes four elements:
- Meet: a brief story to introduce the concept
- Bible Time: scripture reference to read relating to the story
- Think It Through: meat and potatoes of digging into the scripture concept
- Reflect: space to write additional thoughts, prayers, ideas, etc.
The book can easily be used individually or as a group. The authors include a brief leader section with pointers and suggestions on how to best utilize the book in a group setting.
The study itself is deep but remains understandable for teens.
The Activities and Reflections section was one of our favorite portions. If you have a child who learns more by hands on rather than reading, this is perfect for them. Each section has a specific activity and reflection activity to help drill down the concept discussed.
My 12-year-old son enjoyed this and learned a lot about discipleship. Of course, it will take effort and practice to implement this knowledge within his daily life.
I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.

Iâm always on the hunt for rich Bible studies for my children. Ever since they were just a few years old, I noticed a gap in books for solid, reformed, Bible studies for children. After the storybook Bible age, there wasnât a whole lot out there. In recent years, Iâve seen more and more books filling that gap. The youth edition of Life with Jesus is one that Iâd recommend. Itâs marketed as âfor teensâ, but my children are 7 and 10 and with my help, this book works well for us. I think my 10 year old could even ...do much of it on her own during her private Bible study time.
A few things I really like about the book:
-It includes the Scripture right in the book. For younger ones, this can be especially helpful. Itâs also nice to have it in the book to circle words you donât know, make notations that go along with the study, etc.
-Itâs deep without being overwhelming. It focuses on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in a way that is relatable and understandable to our youth. The sections are able to completed within 30 minutes.
-It includes a dictionary in each section for key words that are especially important to understand in a Biblical context.
-It has blank space for each question and reflection to keep all your notes together with the study.
-It has an application section to think through and discuss to apply what youâve been studying.
With the Scripture included in the book as well as writing space, this is really all you need. Of course you can include your own Bible as well, but for groups or children who may not have their own Bibles, this is a great all-in-one type Bible study. This book is a great resources for helping children look at what it means to live as a follower of Jesus in all areas of life.
Iâm really glad theyâve come out with this and hope they have more like it in the future!
