A 30 day devotional to encourage those serving as caregivers to loved ones suffering from dementia. Using Scripture, personal reflection, and stories of others, the author sheds light on the unique suffering of a caregiver. While encouraging for anyone to read the truths of the hope of the gospel in the midst of pain and suffering, the focus on caregivers is so needed. Oftentimes the caregivers suffer silently as they serve the Lord by serving their loved one.
Practically speaking, I think the length of each devotional is good because oftentimes caregivers don’t have the bandwidth to read much. Each day begins with Scripture and ends with reflection questions to encourage the reader to pursue Christ in the midst of caregiving.
There’s also an appendix with helpful books and resources regarding dementia.
It’s a heavy load and privilege to care for someone you love who is suffering from dementia. The author personally relates to and reflects on this while seeking to apply the gospel and explore God’s love in the context of dementia.

The honesty with which Robin wrote about his feelings in caring for his beloved wife was very moving. It was very real. Robin's application of appropriate scripture made it very powerful. Although not a carer I found it very helpful.

As perhaps one of the solemnest topics to write on, caring for someone with dementia can be mentally and spiritually draining. As Thomson says, it is both "a huge privilege and a heavy load". And yet, throughout this 30 day (undated) devotional, he helps us to see that our Father in Heaven cares for us and listens, even in those tough times. The Bible is full of reassurance for us that he is with us in these draining moments, so that we can both lament the troubles and celebrate the realities of walking with God throughout our entire lives, including ...the caring responsibilities we may have been given.
