I received a copy of this book from the publisher. My review reflects my honest opinion.
If you've read Timothy Keller before, you'll probably recognize his fingerprints all over this study guide. It's thoughtful, Christ centered, and always points you back to the biblical text.
Judges is one of those books where you find yourself thinking, "Didn't this already happen?" Well...that's kind of the point. One of my favorite features was the charts illustrating Israel's repeated cycle of rebellion, oppression, repentance, and deliverance. They made the structure of the book much easier to follow.
I also appreciated that this guide ...doesn't simply hand you the answers. The questions encourage observation, interpretation, and application, helping you grow in your own Bible study skills while still providing helpful guidance along the way.
Whether you're studying Judges on your own or with a small group, this is an excellent resource. I came away not only with a better understanding of the book, but with a greater appreciation for how carefully it points us back to God's faithfulness despite Israel's repeated failures.

A study book by the much acclaimed theologian Timothy Keller could not fail to please; and this is one of the hardest biblical books to find favour with readers. We used it for a church bible study, and found it condensed easily into 30 min. I took the second, and probably the hardest study, but Keller helped enormously. We should not be afraid of these “difficult” books, but regard them as a challenge. Thank you Timothy Keller for helping with that challenge.
