We’ve asked all the dads in our office what they would like to receive from their children this Father’s Day and we are delighted to present you with their top picks…
So have a read, grab some ideas, and find a gift that will show how much you care on June 19th.
“I’d love to receive Habits of Grace by David Mathis. As my kids get older, life seems to become busier and more complicated. So I find the “simplified approach” that David Mathis says he takes to Bible reading, prayer and fellowship appealing!”
James, dad to Suzy (9) and Sam (7)
"Being a dad is tough and I'm working hard to do it properly but Zeal without Burnout was a great reminder that I'm not God and I need to occasionally rest. I need to live a sacrificial life but one which is sustainable for the long term rather than burning out in 5yrs."
Tom, dad to Jessica (2)
"I would love to receive a picture book for Father’s day – there’s nothing better than a bed time story with your kids at the end of a long day - and these will point them to their heavenly Father as you read and pray together.”
Andre, dad to Megan (10) Seth (8) Maggie (6) and Jacob (4)
"One book I would love to receive this Father’s Day is Living in the Light by John Piper. He addresses three big areas that affect the lives of men - money, sex and power - and John Piper looks at these in helpful detail."
Ben, dad to Grace (6) and Naomi (5)
"I would like to receive The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross for Father's Day. This may seem like a strange book to request for myself, but I cherish the time I get to spend reading with my young daughter. In my opinion, I cannot reinforce the gospel enough while she is still young, and this book does exactly that."
Matt, dad to Blythe (8 months)
"This Father’s Day, I’d like to receive The Hard Corps. I have two boys - one in High School and the other in Junior High - and I would love to read it together with them this summer.”
Brad, dad to Quin (16) and Tate (12)
"There are quite a few books I could recommend as a Father’s Day gift. Fatherhood is a challenge, also a gift from God, so our duty to preach the Gospel starts in our own home, evangelizing our little ones. Honest Evangelism by Rico Tice in particular is a big encouragement to normal men like me to go deeper into the gospels, exercising biblical knowledge and see the fruits of the seeds of the gospel planted in every heart (especially in our children and family).
Also, Living Without Worry by Timothy Lane. Which man who cares about the well being of his family has never felt anxious about situations of everyday life? Paying bills, buying a big house, a new car, or whatever. All these things can make us feel tense and pressured. This book will help you to see the real meaning of the word "worry" and why you should not let yourself be over-concerned with the struggles in your life.
Felipe Silva, father of two - Lucas (5) and Miguel (2).
