“This is such a timely and important book—but it’s not only crucial; it’s delightful. You learn and laugh and experience a narrative so conspicuously absent from our culture’s loudest voices. This wonderful story will help boys form an identity rooted in truth and dedicated to using their strengths as servants. Best of all, it also points them to that perfect man, Jesus Christ. I love this book!”
“My son and I are often talking about what true strength and manliness looks like—and now I have a great book to give him! I’m so thankful for Champ’s enjoyable writing and faithful Bible teaching and look forward to giving this to many young boys we know.”
“In a world of gender confusion, parents need helpful resources to reinforce their children’s God-given identity. This is such a resource. Rich with gospel truth, It’s Good to Be a Boy celebrates manhood for young boys and points them to the ultimate man, Jesus Christ. Every family will want to add this to their bookshelf and read it often.”
Suitable for under 7s. It uses biblical examples of Joseph, David, Nehemiah and Ezra and also refers to great people of the past like Eric Liddell, William Wilberforce, George Herbet and Francis Grimke. It encourages boys to live a life for God and to celebrate how God has made you. A positive exploration of what it means to be a boys.
Refers to 1 Corinthians 16 v 13 "Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong."
Indeed, it's good to be a boy and it's excellently and joyfully celebrated in this book by Champ Thorton. We know how controversial gender today and I'm glad that this book lays down biblical truth about being a boy or a man. This of course doesn't put down the role of a girl or woman but briefly mentioned that part in the book. I like how Thornton opens the book with the role of Adam and includes men in the Bible fulfilling their God given role. Then the author points it to Jesus and the cross. But it didn't stop there. Thornton included godly men of recent times and roles or jobs men do today. Another hit children's book early in 2026 from The Good Book Company.
This is a lovely book for male children (I’d suggest that it’s best for something like 4-7s) to help them understand what it means to be a man made in God’s image. While our society has many contradicting ideas of what a man is, Thornton helps us to see that a real man is one who tries to be more like Jesus, using their wisdom and strength for what is good. It’s a book that’s easy to understand, illustrated well, and avoids the odd cliches that sometimes exist in books like this. Definitely one that I’ll be reading to my son in the future
