This week we're bigging up 'The Third Day'. Check out the stunning new edition of this graphic-novel-style book faithfully illustrating the unadorned NIV text of the last 3 chapters of Luke's Gospel. Have a look at some of the amazing internal spreads.... continue reading
Just under a year ago, we published The Third Day. It was a new kind of book for us, as it is a graphic realisation of the last three chapters of Luke's Gospel. We are still immensely proud of the publication.
This year, in time for Easter, we've given the cover a fresh new look, we've added a spine and upraged the paper which really helps the illustrations shine out.
Of course there are lots of graphic Bibles out there - but how is this different? In three significant ways:... continue reading
There is perhaps no greater freedom than a clear conscience. Disease buffets the body, but guilt sinks the soul. And, unlike some diseases, there is a cure for guilt.
1 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
2 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:1-5... continue reading
Nothing unmasks our true spiritual condition quite like our attitude towards money. We may think we’re not materialistic, but our response to wealth reveals our hearts. At this time of year, when lots of us are feeling the pinch after Christmas, it’s great to be reminded of Jesus’ words:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21... continue reading

Our video of the week is a Sermon Jam from the team at Refresh Ministries. It's Tim Keller on the breathtaking nature of God's unconditional love. "What's a 'sermon jam' you ask?" - well, watch and enjoy!
And if you enjoy the video, you will probably enjoy reading Tim's book - The Prodigal God in which he explains the Jesus' invitation to all - to enter in to the ‘unique, radical nature of the gospel’: the reckless, spendthrift love of God.

Food for prayer.
Why not consider reading this book which tells of extraordinary stories of men and women who suffered and died for the gospel in Ethiopia.
Before Christmas, Steve Kryger from Communicate Jesus emailed 100 Australian churches to ask about their Chrstmas services. This is what happened.
One wonders what the results would be for a similar experiment in the UK? Perhaps this book my help in getting our priorities right in time for Easter...
The Christian life is a race—one in which all of us are runners.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3
The Christian race is not a fun-run. It’s a matter of life and death. And the prize is much bigger than a piece of metal on a ribbon. The stakes are eternal. So we need to get rid of anything which is slowing us down.... continue reading
Sometimes it’s good to get a reality check—and these first verses of Psalm 144 are great for that. It's a psalm by King David. He's recalling God's help in subduing the enemies he faced—and looking to God for future help with great confidence.
1 Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
2 He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
3 Lord, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?
4 They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow. Psalm 144:1-4... continue reading
